It’s the morning every Bohunt Sixth Form student has been working towards for two years – results day.
After a nerve-wracking wait since their last exam, students flocked to the sixth form to collect their results.
Thanks to UCAS releasing grades online early, for many this final trip was more about being with friends, family and the teachers one last time before heading off to University, apprenticeships or travelling abroad.
For one student, her white envelope was an unforgettable gift. Ella’s 18th birthday was made even better with three little letters: A, A*, A*. After dedicating all her energy to studying for months, Ella underestimated her results but couldn’t be happier. In September, she’ll head to her first-choice university, Warwick, to study English Language and Linguistics. But first, she’s off to celebrate with birthday cocktails.
Arabella is “over the moon” with her two A*s and an A. The aspiring lawyer said: “Revising was awful, but it makes the grades all the brighter.”
Reuben is most excited about decorating his university room in Edinburgh, where he will study Pharmacology.
Despite battling an illness that nearly caused him to drop out, James, now a Scout Leader, is content with his grades, even if they weren’t exactly what he had hoped for.
Clare Hodgson, Head of Bohunt Sixth Form, said: “This is my favourite day of the year. I get to see all the students celebrating their success and getting ready to leave home and start their adult lives. It’s so exciting I don’t sleep at all.”
More than 40 per cent of Bohunt’s exam entries achieved top A*/A grades, with 90 per cent of students going on to study at their first-choice university, with over half going to prestigious Russell Group universities.
These exceptional results are the fitting conclusion to an exceptional year for Bohunt Sixth Form following its ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement in the summer term.
