YOUNG debaters from The Royal School successfully held forth at the Rotary’s annual Youth Speaks competition, hosted by the Haslemere club at The Georgian Hotel.
Two teams from the school competed and ‘Team A’ – comprising Year 7 pupils Henry and Annie and Year 8 student Ruby (pictured with Rotary organiser Peter Matthews) won.
Team A debated the motion that smoking should be made illegal, while fellow Royal students in ‘Team B’ debated whether the school starting age in the UK should be raised to age seven.
The victors now go forwards to compete in the 2020 district final.
