Liphook Horticultural Society hosted its final show of the year on 7th September at the Church Centre on Portsmouth Road. Despite some rain, the event was a real feast for the eyes, with displays of cut flowers, dahlias, shrubs, and vegetables.
A highlight was Ian Paterson’s pair of metre-long Tromboncini squash, which really squashed the competition in the "Any Other Veg" category.
John Gilbert continued his winning streak, securing the Vian Cup for the fifth consecutive year with his shallots, alongside the Lady Skelhorn Trophy for his carrots, which were crowned "Best in Show." Other winners included Ann Haussauer, who took home the Arthur Johnson and Countess of Brecknock Cups for her dahlias, and Lesley Hollands, who won the W.A. Coyte Cup for pot plants and the Cookery Cup.
The next event, the Spring Show, is set for 5th April 2025. More details can be found on the Society’s website.
