A firm which provides care at home to people around Waverley and south west Surrey has something to shout about after opening the doors of its Badshot Lea office to the public.
Right at Home Guildford & Farnham (GF) has taken part in a campaign to “shout loud for social care”.
The provider recently organised an open event at its head office for anybody who wanted to know more about the options for receiving care whilst living at home.
The event was well received with representatives from both Surrey Heath Age Concern and the safeguarding officer from St Mary’s in Ash Vale both attending.
Both organisations have excellent links with the community and are often the first port of call for people needing a little extra support.
The firm’s managing director, Alastair Shanks, also gave a small presentation that highlighted the annual £68.1bn contribution the social care sector makes to the UK economy.
He said: “Every £1 invested in social care generates £2.36 in socioeconomic benefits which I’m sure most people would agree is a very good return on investment.
“Social care is often overlooked but these hard facts and figures really highlight the importance of the sector both in terms of the economy and society.”
As well as there being an opportunity to meet and talk to staff from Right at Home GF, visitors were also able to experience a dementia simulation led by Right at Home’s dementia care expert Adriana Mendonca.
The exercise replicated the everyday challenges people have when living with a dementia diagnosis.
