A historic Hammer Vale telephone box has been restored to its former glory. The derelict phone box outside The Prince of Wales pub in Hammer Vale has been beautifully refurbished, thanks to funding from Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council through CIL developers' contributions.
The restoration, carried out by Ralph Restorations, has transformed the box, making it look as good as new. It will now serve as an information hub for the community and visitors, featuring a local map, children’s activities, and, shortly, information on local walks and the history of Hammer Vale.
Parish Council Chairman, Cllr Jeanette Kirby, joined District Councillor Bill Mouland to unveil the restored phone box and meet the residents who spearheaded the project. Cllr Mouland also contributed a district councillor’s grant to fund the backboard inside the box.
Sarah De Marcos, Chair of the Hammer Vale Phone Box Restoration Project, said: “The residents of Hammer Vale are delighted with both the restored phone box and the new defibrillator. Our community group has been working together for several years on this project, and it’s wonderful to see it complete.
“The phone box has been carefully restored and is now a fully functioning information hub. We look forward to it becoming a central point in our community for everyone to enjoy.
“As a community, we are very grateful to Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council and individual councillors for their support. It is hoped that the phone box will be appreciated by many generations to come.”
