The Arts Society Haslemere welcomes Lydia Bauman on January 21 at 2pm at Haslemere Hall for a talk on a celebrated painter. Lydia, a distinguished artist, art historian, and long-time National Gallery guide, will delve into the work of Edward Hopper (1882–1967), one of America’s most iconic realist painters.

Hopper’s art masterfully captures the essence of American life and landscapes, with a signature style defined by striking contrasts of light and shadow. His exploration of solitude and themes of loneliness in urban and rural settings remains profoundly relevant, echoing the isolation felt by many during the Covid era.

Non-members are invited to attend with a suggested £5 donation. Complimentary teas and coffees will be available after the lecture.
