Time has been temporarily called at a Shottermill pub as it’s getting a £230,000 revamp.

The Apple Tree will close early next week for a five-week refurbishment that will transform the Wey Hill hostelry into a “quality family and dog-friendly local” in time for the May bank holiday.

Visitors can expect a brighter interior with larger tables and an “eclectic mix” of chairs replacing its seating booths, with adorning local area bric-a-brac adding interest and character.

The pool table, darts board and TVs will be retained while the exterior will get new signage and a fresh white and apple green paintjob.

A new paved terrace and festoon lighting is planned with Sue McGovern continuing to run the venue on behalf of Star Pubs after the refit.
