Comedian Ed Byrne is bringing his new stand-up show Tragedy Plus Time to The Anvil in Basingstoke on May 16 at 7.30pm.

According to Mark Twain, humour is defined as “tragedy plus time”, so the audience is invited to join Ed as he tests that formula by mining the most tragic event in his life for laughs.

His television career is in its third decade and Ed has appeared regularly on the likes of QI, Mock The Week, Alan Davies As Yet Untitled, The Pilgrimage, Dara and Ed’s Road to Mandalay, Dara & Ed’s Big Adventure, The Graham Norton Show and Have I Got News For You, as well as hosting Live At The Apollo and Comic Relief Bake Off. He made show five out of eight on BBC1’s Celebrity Best Home Cook and won celebrity versions of The Chase and Pointless.

Ed loves hill walking and mountaineering, and has presented BBC2’s Volcano Live, World’s Most Dangerous Roads and Into The Wild with Gordon Buchanan.

With legions of fans in the UK and abroad, Ed remains the observational stand-up to see, so people should take this chance to see him in Basingstoke.

Tickets are priced at £31.50, which includes a £4 booking fee. Call the Anvil Arts box office on 01256 844244 or visit anvilarts.org.uk

The show is suitable for people aged 14 and above.
