FERNHURST Primary School celebrated the start of the academic year with a new headteacher, Gill Richardson, and gettng a ‘Good Provider’ rating in its latest Ofsted inspection.

Mrs Richardson comes to Fernhurst from Frogmore Junior School, in Camberley, a fellow University of Chichester Academy Trust school.

She has already been working hand in hand with staff to ensure that her transition is a smooth one.

It was graded a good provider following an inspection in July.

Libby Isaac, current deputy head and acting headteacher during the inspection, told The Herald: “We are absolutely delighted with this result.

“We are extremely thankful for all the hard work and dedication put in by our staff, governors, parents and pupils both prior to and during our inspection. This is a fantastic outcome for the school, the governing body and The University of Chichester Academy Trust, and is testament to the way the school has developed over the past few years.”

Congratulations also go to Henry Atkinson and Zoe Riley, as they take up their new posts as head boy and head girl in the autumn term.

They are already busy co-ordinating the new ‘pupil voice’ initiative, a chance for all the children to have their say in how the school in Haslemere Road, is run.

The duo have had their first meeting with Mrs Richardson to feed back thoughts and ideas from the ‘pupil voice’, concerning “sports leaders” and “house activities.”
