SOUTH Farnham School has won first prize in Squire’s Garden Centres’ ’Decorate A Christmas Tree’ competition.
The children designed and made their own tree decorations out of recycled materials, then hung them on a special tree at Squire’s.
They beat off local competition to win the best-decorated tree, as voted for by customers at Squire’s in Badshot Lea.
Sarah Squire, chairman of Squire’s Garden Centres said: "All the schools involved created beautiful decorations out of recycled materials - we were very impressed with their skills.
"It was a pleasure to have the children at Squire’s while they decorated their trees, and we will be rewarding the winners at South Farnham School with a pre-Christmas treat of a festive goody bag each."
Lucy Allen, head of early years and Key Stage 1 at South Farnham School added: "The infant children at South Farnham School had a wonderful time taking part in Squire’s ’Decorate a Christmas Tree’ competition this year.
"Children from our arts council and eco council took on the project to create a collection of beautiful decorations and garlands made from items which could be reused, recycled and repurposed.
"They enjoyed creating these decorations and the magic and excitement of being invited into Squire’s Garden Centre in Badshot Lea, along with their teachers and parents, to decorate the tree together."
