ST JOHN’S Infant School in Churt has celebrated its 150th anniversary.
The celebrations began with a family sponsored walk around Churt. Families set off from the school and followed maps to find the fun facts and to count ribbons. They also stopped at the church to meet the reverend and add prayers of thankfulness to the prayer tree, before heading back to school for commemorative certificates and badges.
The school’s PTA also organised a fundraising event.
Celebrations continued when pupils stepped back in time for a Victorian day. Everyone dressed in costumes and headteacher Marion Stevens rang the bell to start the day. A visitor from Farnham museum gave Year 1 and Year 2 pupils a Victorian learning experience, while Reception had a hands-on experience of toys in the past.
The school’s cook, Janice Foster, baked cakes for lunch to celebrate.
