After nine months on a very strict dialysis regime, Matti Carrington had a kidney transplant, from his mummy, at the age of six in October 2021.
It's been a rough ride along a seemingly never-ending journey, and the Covid restrictions brought with it many more complications too.
But now Matti and his family want to give something back for all the support they have received along the way.
Southampton Children's Hospital is such a big part the Carrington family's lives and during Covid times they set up a YouTube channel, Music for Matti, as a way to raise money for the kidney ward.
Matti’s siblings weren’t allowed to visit him on any of his lengthy hospital stays but making these videos was something they could do as a family when they were home together.
Matti and family are now excited to be organising a live Music for Matti concert on Thursday, July 13, at 7pm at St Thomas-on-the Bourne Church, Farnham.
It will be an evening of light entertainment focusing predominantly on local children making music together, featuring St Thomas-on-the Bourne Choir, Farnham Music and Drama Youth Orchestra, the Carrington Family Quintet and much more.
It’s all for a very good cause whilst raising awareness of Organ Donation and the British Transplant Games.
Entry is free but donations are very appreciated. Refreshments will be available and there will be a raffle on the night.
