A coronation procession, village fête, live music and laser light show on Lion Green will bring Haslemere’s coronation celebrations to a triumphant finale on Monday.
Lion Green will open from midday on the Bank Holiday Monday with a funfair, entertainment, food and a festival bar, followed by a coronation procession.
This will start at 1.30pm from the High Lane Estate and proceed along Weycombe Road to Church Lane, through to the High Street, Lower Street, Wey Hill and finishing at Lion Green around 2.30pm.
The procession will then be followed by music through the ages and lots of dancing, ending with tribute band Ultimate Coldplay and a laser display that will light up the skies.
The festivities on the main stage are scheduled to end at 9.30pm. For more information and timings, see https://haslemerefringe.co.uk/
Many other events are planned to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III across the Haslemere area. These include:
A window dressing competition run by The Royal Society of St George (Haslemere branch). The winners will be announced at the Lion Green event.
On Saturday, May 6, Haslemere will be decorated with Commonwealth flags, and the Haslemere Chamber of Trade will be erecting a coronation arch at both ends of the town. Excelsis Choir will also be performing ‘music fit for a royal occasion’ in St Christopher’s Church at 7.30pm.
On Sunday, May 7, there will be a civic service in St Bartholomew’s Church at 11am, followed by residents being encouraged to organise their own street parties. One such party is planned for the War Memorial Recreation Ground.
