Panto is back – oh yes it is – with a village group set to lift the curtain on a seasonal treat.

The Ewsh*t Theatre Company can’t wait to kick off the silly season with their second pantomine Puss in Boots of Ewshot following the success of Cinderella of Ewshot in 2022.

Writer and director Caroline Vaughan has billed the show as a “bespoke pantomime for Ewshot Village” with plenty of local references.

Caroline is a founder member of the group and has always had a passion for acting and particularly comedy.

Her penchant for comic and stand-up writing led her to write comedy duos in Puss with the results being even more ridiculous.

She said: “The rehearsals have been enormous fun for the cast and the pantomime includes many funny visuals as well as childish jokes.”

Theatregoers will also get a bit of panto education and a nod to one of the greatest comedies of all time.

It may surprise some people to read the character Shrek originates from the old Puss In Boots tale, with many getting the story confused with Dick Whittington.

The Ewsh*t panto has an ogre called Smellfungus while his henchman Fustylugs is based on Baldrick from Blackadder, with both names being Olde English insults.

So if you would like to see a whacky pantomime with a horse with the longest neck in the world – and who wouldn’t – then you know what to do. Oh yes you do.

Shows will take place in Ewshot village hall at 7.30pm next Friday and Saturday (December 13 and 14) with a 3pm matinee on the latter date.
