World-renowned ceramicist Dame Magdalene Odundo launched Farnham’s month-long celebration of craft on Sunday.
October Craft Month’s opening ceremony was held at The James Hockey and Foyer Galleries at the University for the Creative Arts’ Farnham campus.
To celebrate Farnham’s status as a World Craft Town, Dame Magdalene gave a talk about the town’s long craft heritage.
There was also two specially-curated exhibitions celebrating the work of students and technical staff at UCA.
The mayor of Farnham, Councillor Alan Earwaker, said: “Throughout the whole of October there will be over 100 craft events happening in the town and surrounding areas.
“Around 40 events are free, which helps to make the event accessible to all.”
The programme of events can be found at www.farnhamcrafttown.com, and printed brochures can be picked up from shops and cafes in Farnham and the Town Hall in South Street.
