Satire will return to the Farnham Maltings stage next week with a stand-up putting humanity under the spotlight.
With the third millennium almost 2.5 per cent complete, Andy Zaltzman believes it’s time to assess the state of Planet Earth and the human race.
So in in the biggest stand-up tour of his career, he will attempt to concoct vaguely plausible answers to some big and perennial questions: namely, why?
Andy, who brings his The Zaltgeist tour to Farnham next Thursday (March 6), has plenty to talk about as he’s chaired The News Quiz on BBC Radio 4 since 2020.
His inventive brand of satirical comedy has earned the show multiple awards, critical acclaim and a growing listenership.
The satirical stand-up has also hosted The Bugle, one of the world’s longest-running and best-loved comedy podcasts since 2007.
Renowned for its unique cocktail of topical global satire and premium-grade hogwash, the Bugle has a worldwide following. It also recently passed the 600-episode mark and has clocked up around 100 million total downloads.
And if that doesn’t pique your interest, he also tops the list of satirical stand-up comedians who are also professional cricket statisticians.
He’s been a key member of the Test Match Special team since 2016, adding his distinctive blend of knowledge, expertise, humour and numerical inquisitiveness to the BBC's legendary cricket broadcast.
Tickets for next week’s show are £17.50 but there’s currently a waiting list as the performance is a sell-out.
The event is part of the Farnham Literary Festival which runs from March 6 to 16 and boasts a programme including the likes of Richard Coles, Doon Mackichan, Louis de Bernieres, Lorraine Kelly and David Walliams. More details at www.farnhamliteraryfestival.co.uk
