Everyone Active has been awarded a leisure contract with Waverley Borough Council for ten years – expanding its reach in the area.
The new agreement, beginning on July 1, will see leisure facilities specialists Everyone Active manage the leisure centres in Farnham, Haslemere, Godalming and Cranleigh.
Everyone Active, the UK’s second largest leisure operator with more than 200 sites across the country, already runs centres in Alton, Whitehill & Bordon, Petersfield and Fleet.
As part of its deal with Waverley, up to £30 million has been earmarked for investment into the leisure centres, to “extend the facilities for the growing health and well-being needs of the local community”.
Waverley received 11 expressions of interest from potential leisure operators after its contract with Places for People Leisure expired. But Everyone Active’s promise of multiple gym refurbishments and extensions to expand and modernise Waverley’s facilities beat off the competition.
This includes brand new, state-of-the-art gym equipment worth £2m, extended fitness studios, and new weights areas to meet an increase in demand for this style of training, and more.
Everyone Active has 35 years’ experience of managing leisure facilities across the country and is the longest-established leisure operator in the UK.
Duncan Jefford, regional director at Everyone Active, said: “We are delighted to be working with Waverley Borough Council, as we believe leisure facilities are pivotal in providing a wide range of services to the community.
“We’re keen for the leisure centres to be utilised as community hubs and will work hard to engage and educate people from all backgrounds.
“The new contract includes significant investments that will help to create improved opportunities for the local community. I am delighted that we have been chosen to support these visions.”
Everyone Active is currently the second largest leisure operator in the country, managing in excess of 200 sites in partnership with over 60 local authorities.
