A limited edition picture of the “Harry Potter train and viaduct” by a photographic wizard from Petersfield has gone on display in a town centre gallery.
The “Glenfinnan” picture by Chris Gorman of The Jacobite steam train crossing the iconic viaduct has been the most successful of the photojournalist’s career.
And now the public have been given the chance to own a copy with the original now on show in the Sage & Salt gallery on Swan Street.
“It’s my first every limited-edition picture and this has been in gestation for at least two years,” said Mr Gorman, whose Big Ladder drone photos are regularly published in the Post, Herald and national newspapers.
“On the day I got there at 9 in the morning as I knew it was going to go over at 10.48am, and by 9.30am the light was incredible and there wasn’t a breath of wind.
“My heart was in my mouth as I heard it chugging along, but of course, I couldn’t see it. Suddenly it was on the viaduct and the drone was airborne and ready.
“It’s certainly been the most successful photo of my career. The next day it was used as a double page on the Eyewitness section of The Guardian and for a photographer that’s considered the holy grail.”
Chris – who has released a limited edition of six – will talk more about the image, its links with Harry Potter and its worldwide usage on Saturday, September 28, as he will give a short presentation at Sage & Salt at 10am.
Meanwhile, the gallery is preparing for its upcoming Whispers of Change Exhibition with a private viewing taking place this week.
The exhibition will “explore themes of transformation through various artistic expressions”.
