Fernhurst Primary School in Haslemere, West Sussex, is celebrating impressive results in this year's national SATs exams. Year 6 pupils from the school, part of the University of Chichester Academy Trust, achieved a combined score of 67 per cent in reading, writing, and maths, surpassing the national average of 61 per cent.
Forty-four per cent of Fernhurst pupils performed above the expected level in reading, while 22 per cent and 33 per cent exceeded expectations in maths and grammar, punctuation, and spelling, respectively.
Headteacher Jennifer Thornton said: “It is also wonderful to have so many pupils exceeding the expected levels, especially in reading. We wish our Year 6s all the very best as they move on to the next stage of their education.”
Jennese Alozie, CEO at the University of Chichester Academy Trust, congratulated both the children and the staff “who have shown huge commitment and dedication” in supporting the pupils.
