A free family fun day at Fernhurst Primary School attracted 350 visitors.

It was held to help families struggling to keep children entertained during the current cost of living crisis. Fortunately, the weather held and families were able to enjoy the school’s outdoor space.

Children were kept entertained by a bubbleologist, circus skills workshops, bouncy castles, boxing, art workshops and story telling - all free of charge.

A four-year-old child said: “It was the best day ever!”

Parents marvelled at what an incredible day it was for families and the support from teachers.

Head teacher Jennifer Thornton said: “The fun day was a great success and it was a privilege to see families out enjoying themselves, without having to worry about costs.

“Several members of the school staff also attended and I would like to thank them for giving up their bank holiday to give back to the local community.”
