Local residents in Waverley will have the opportunity to experience one of the world’s fastest-growing sports.
World Pickleball Day is on Thursday, October 10 and the community is invited to participate in a free Pickleball taster session.
Pickleball, often described as a hybrid of tennis, badminton and table tennis, is played on a compact court roughly a third the size of a tennis court. Players use solid paddles to hit a perforated plastic ball over a low net, typically in doubles or singles matches.
Councillor Kika Mirylees said: “This is a great opportunity to try something new and another example of the fantastic range of activities residents can enjoy at our leisure centres.”
The event is part of a nationwide initiative by Everyone Active, which is organising more than 50 free Pickleball sessions across the country to mark the occasion. Farnham Leisure Centre is hosting 14 sessions throughout the day.
