The world does not accept the Holy Spirit and cannot, because God's thinking, vision, overarching love and purposes to implement it, are not in the way the world can see it. But Christians can get glimpses of God's extravagant "foolishness" from time to time, through a glass, darkly.
We might feel that God wants us to be expectant of growth in and use of his spiritual gifts and fruit. Trusting God and his wish to bless us, why would we not? In their use, we may well find opposition to God's will from those around us.
We will need to grow in the fruits of the Holy Spirit, particularly in love in the face of discouragement, holy joy, peace, humility and courage to speak God's word, in places where they might be unexpected.
Jesus said that to deny the Holy Spirit is the only unforgivable sin. The world seeks to contain and control him so that the apple cart of well-worn and comfortable usage is not upset.
It is a battle. However, the spirit of truth will not be denied and God will have his way, before the end.
The battle is in the supernatural realms where the purposes of the Kingdom of God are sought to be subverted. We can have faith in, trust in, God.
Look what he planned and did through the "disaster” of the cross, in full knowledge of all of our weaknesses.
As children of God, we are inheritors of God's kingdom, and it is our great desire to be aligned with his purposes. Jesus said if the world seeks to destroy him, it will certainly seek to destroy his followers too!
Jesus said that to follow him we must be prepared to sacrifice the self in us. Can we be broken, as he was? Can we drink his cup? But we can do this when we remember and rely on him in us and us in him.
His work does enable us to be bought back (redeemed from the pawnbroker) and brought back into the fatherhood of God.
To do the will of God and be a part of his plan for us, is a fine and glorious thing, which is worth any amount trouble. Nothing can separate us from the love of God.
