A school in Liphook has given the Olympic team a run for its money after its athletes competed on the national stage. Eight students from Highfield and Brookham School secured a bronze medal, three personal bests, and two school records at the National Prep Schools Track & Field Championships at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham – the pinnacle of the prep school athletics season.

Phoebe Gibbon won a bronze medal with a leap of 3.92m in the U12 girls’ long jump, marking the school's sixth medal at the championships in two years. Meanwhile, Xander Apps finished fourth in the U12 boys’ javelin with a throw of 25.78m, setting a new school record. Tiggy Walder achieved a personal best and a new senior school record in the U13 girls’ 800m, while Clemmie Coller also recorded a personal best in the same race.

Other athletes, including Olivia Turner, Cristo Porter, Imogen Knight, and Tiger Ellis, performed admirably in their events, contributing to the school's strong showing. Head Suzannah Cryer praised their achievements, highlighting their talent and determination.

Highfield and Brookham Head Suzannah Cryer said: “Simply reaching the national finals at Alexander Stadium and following in the footsteps of some of the world’s top athletes was an amazing achievement in itself. To go a step further and win a medal, gain a personal best or break a school record is real testament to not only the children’s ability but also their desire, determination, and pride, and we couldn’t be more proud of them.”
