EVERY DAY is Christmas Day for a Bordon family as a fundraising mother has ditched her normal attire for something more festive.

Katie Pollard could be from the North Pole as the coolest mum in town is taking part in a sponsored “dressing-up” for the RSPCA in a tribute to her late dad and animal lover Rob Hunt, who died nearly four years ago.

Christmas was in his blood as he was born on Boxing Day and was equally fond of dressing up as Santa for his kids.

Katie has raised a few eyebrows on her travels around town but fitted in perfectly at last weekend’s Christmas fayres at Bordon Juniors and Greatham Primary School.

The 40-year-old also been handing out candy canes on her travels with her four-year-old son and “naughty elf” Bruce, who is also in festive costume.

“The first school run was a bit interesting,” said Katie, who said the idea to dress up “came out of the blue”.

“It’s just fun and we like to do things for charity. My son is the same and he raised £600 back in May when he cycled 500 miles.

“My mum has also got involved and she plays the part of a naughty elf. Actually, when she and my son get together they’re both naughty elves.”

Katie has been thrilled with the reaction and has enjoyed spreading some Christmas joy around town. She splashed out around £100 on an outfit and leaflets but it’s been worth every penny seeing the joy she’s bringing.

She reckons her dad would have loved her festive mission, and probably would have also taken part.

She said: “He would be smiling and he loved any excuse to dress up and have fun as he was such a happy, lovely and bubbly chap.”
