Pupils and parents at Fernhurst Primary School took part in a special “dark skies” event hosted by the South Downs National Park ahead of its Dark Skies Festival.
A total of 48 families attended, using a powerful telescope to observe planets and stars up close. They were also able to see Mars with the naked eye.
The evening aimed to spark curiosity about astronomy and nocturnal wildlife in the local area.
Headteacher Jennifer Thornton said: “We had a fantastic evening exploring the skies and learning about the planets and stars. It was a wonderful opportunity for our children to develop inquisitive minds.”
This year’s festival focused not just on the stars but on appreciating small, positive moments that bring happiness, peace, and wonder.
