A SIX year-old Fernhurst Primary School pupil has helped to facilitate a fundraising event, after she was “absolutely heartbroken” while learning of the Australian bushfires.
Flossie Naomi’s mother Lucy, said: “I wanted to show her that we could help even though we are far away and so suggested she and her classmates organise a fundraiser.
“She has jumped into it and from the initial idea last Wednesday, we now have a date of Friday, January 18, and have already sold over £100 worth of tickets to start off the fundraising.”
School administrator Hannah Porter said: “The school is very proud of Year 1 children. As a silver award rights respecting school, both staff and children are encouraged to think about how they can help those less fortunate.”
Friday’s event will be held at Fernhurst Village Hall.
With the support of House of Lemon, there will be a DJ, dancing and fundraising stalls.
