Students at St Ives School in Haslemere laid a wreath at the Cenotaph in London to mark St George’s Day.
The school is a member of the Royal Society of St George and was invited to the wreath-laying ceremony and cadet’s parade in Whitehall on Saturday, April 20.
This occasion is held annually to remember all those who have served our country and the Commonwealth as part of the society’s St George’s Day celebrations.
St Ives’ Year 6 heads of houses were lucky to have a prominent position at the front of the parade and it was an honour for them to be a part of the service which followed in Westminster Abbey.
Back in Haslemere, members of the Year 2 class joined in the wreath laying and flag-raising in the high street alongside the mayor of Haslemere.
The school also partnered up with Camelsdale School, another member of the Royal Society of St George, and collaborated on various activities.
Headteacher Kay Goldsworthy, said: “We were so privileged to be involved in the wreath-laying ceremony and cadet’s parade at the Cenotaph in London on Saturday.
“It is an extremely moving event and one we will remember for a very long time.”
“It has also been wonderful to work with Camelsdale School on some really fun initiatives for both of our pupils and it’s been lovely to see them working together in teams to produce some fabulous work.”
St Ives School is a co-educational prep school for children aged two to 11 years old.
