It takes dedication to the cause to be up at the crack of dawn in early February, but sometimes the sights are worth getting out of bed for.

Dawn Ayres, who took this picture at Borovere Farm in Alton, said: “We have been seeing such beautiful sunrises.”

While the sky appears blue in the middle of a clear day, red skies like this are often a feature of sunrise.

A red sky appears when dust and small particles are trapped in the atmosphere by high pressure.

This scatters blue light, leaving only red light to give the sky its notable appearance.
