East Hampshire MP Damian Hinds visited Treloar’s in Holybourne at the invitation of student Ryan.

He spoke to Ryan’s classmates about his job and answered a long list of written questions on the economy, his attitude to teachers’ strikes, the prime minister and the workings of government and the cabinet.

Following his interview with Ryan, Mr Hinds spoke at assembly and gave a short presentation to the whole school about his role in Westminster, before facing even more questions from students – including what were his hobbies, did he like politics, and what did he enjoy about his job. He then met a group of students to discuss various local issues.

A Treloar’s spokesperson said: “We found out that one of the MP’s favourite parts of his role was visiting local schools.

“One student asked where Mr Hinds sits in the House of Commons, and the MP explained he’s a front bencher and pointed to his place on the green benches.

“He faced questions on everything from climate change to Charlie’s circus-themed question: ‘Can you juggle?’”
