The celebrations are no longer on ice as Petersfield’s coolest new business has officially opened.
You didn’t need a few bob to enjoy Dylan’s Ice cream last Friday as free samples were handed out to mark their official opening.
The parlour joined the cream of Chapel Street in late May when it opened to coincide with the Spring Festival.
But it was a low-key affair so Ben Govier and his team decided to finally have a ribbon cutting last week with deputy mayor, Cllr Lesley Farrow, doing the honours following a shout-out from town crier, Faye Thompson.
Mr Govier wasn’t looking to open a branch of his Langrish-based firm in Petersfield until making a delivery to Fez earlier this year.
He saw the potential of the empty unit on the corner of Chapel Street and Bakery Lane and it’s been a huge success with surrounding traders giving him a warm welcome following a quick makeover.
He said: “I was expecting a slow start when we opened but they all came in, one by one, and it’s never stopped.
“All of Chapel Street has also come in to say hello and everyone has been really friendly and welcoming.”
Cllr Farrow wished Dylan’s every success before cutting the ribbon to the parlour, which includes a “live portal” to show what’s happening in their Haslemere branch.
The parlour offers vegan flavours, treats for dogs and a “Peachersfield” variety named in honour of the town. There’s also limited seating for people who want to chill.
