Three young people survived a major car crash on The Avenue between Shalden and Lasham on March 20.

Gareth Cornelius played a part in helping those involved in the accident, which happened at 8pm in the road north of Alton, and also took some pictures as a warning to drivers to take care.

He said: “I heard the bang and was second on the scene, and called 999. Police, fire and rescue, ambulance, air ambulance - everything turned up.

“An 18-year-old coming up from Golden Pot was taking the corner too fast and was on the wrong side of the road, leading to a head-on collision with the other car with a 25-year-old and a 28-year-old inside.

“All were treated at the scene and all went to hospital. There were no fatalities, but that was amazing considering the car damage.

“I hope these photos can raise awareness and remind people it could happen to them.”
