The eagerly awaited Wheatsheaf Inn in Grayswood will be throwing open its doors for drinks on Thursday, September 8, with food expected to follow soon.
Residents of Grayswood and Haslemere have been curious to see what the future of the beloved pub would look like since its closure in September 2020—after being run by the previous owner for 22 years.
The Edwardian Pub on Grayswood Road was built in the early 20th century and has been a focal point for the community for decades.
A Facebook post to the Haslemere Community Board announcing the pub’s opening date has attracted hundreds of likes and comments, with people recalling their memories of the pub over the years. One person said the pub was their first part-time bar job more than 50 years ago. Others reminisced about the pub’s former owner, known by regulars as ‘Auntie’, but all celebrated the long-awaited return of The Wheatsheaf Inn.
