Alton thrashed Bournemouth by nine wickets in the Southern Premier Cricket League Premier Division.

Alton skipper Scott Myers won the toss and elected to bowl first. Bash Walters removed James Van Gool with the visitors yet to get on the board. Jude Wright then produced a controlled spell of bowling as he ripped through the Bournemouth top order. Luke Webb and George Guirdham both edged behind to Mark Heffernan, and Wright (four for 20) also removed skipper Simon Woodruff and Tom Robinson as Bournemouth tumbled to 20 for five.

Zach Gadsby (three for 33) took the next three wickets to leave Bournemouth on 57 for eight.

Aidan Meyer reached his half-century and Ross Gardner added a valuable 24 as Bournemouth frustrated the Brewers. Gardner fell to the off spin of Sumner (two for 31) before Meyer fell for 87 as Bournemouth were bowled out for 139.

Alton made short work of the run chase. Dan Harris and Aarav Rajnikanth added 105 for the first wicket before Rajnikanth fell for 41. Wright (11 not out) and Harris (73 not out) saw Alton home to a comprehensive win in the 21st over.

Alton’s second team fell to a six-wicket defeat at Bournemouth’s second team.

Alton lost Ethan Van Der Linde and Andrew Postles early on as they slipped to 24 for two. Ryan Hale made 32 before he was caught off the bowling of Liam Keogh. Joe Paul and Nilanka Kodithuwakku took Alton to 127 before the later fell for 23. Alton lost regular wickets as they pushed for late runs, but Paul remained as he moved to 50 off 83 balls. He was the last wicket to fall for 59 as Alton finished on 183 for nine.

The hosts managed their chase well. Tom Andrews, Ian Carpenter, Tom Green and Matt Crane all took a wicket each, but Bournemouth knocked the runs off in the 43rd over.

Alton’s third team beat Steep’s second team by 133 runs.

Ian Mason hit 155 not out as Alton scored 319 for four. Sam Crook (55) and Andrew Pearce (51) hit half-centuries. Alton then bowled Steep out for 186.
