YOUNG cricketers are being sought to pad up for a coaching initiative in Grayshott.
The thriving village club will begin its winter indoor coaching programme at Bohunt School in Liphook and Amesbury School in Hindhead on January 26.
The eight-week programme is aimed at encouraging children from the age of seven and who are new to the game to “give it a go” and at young cricketers looking to join the club to develop their skills ahead of the 2019 season.
Children new to the game are invited to come along for a free taster session. All coaching sessions are led by fully-qualified ECB coaches.
In 2019, the club will again offer competitive cricket to children at under-8, under-9, under-10, under-11, under-12, under-13, under-15, under-17 and under-19 level, fielding 13 teams.
This year will also see the club use its new junior cricket ground at Broxhead Common, Lindford, for the first time.
With growing interest in girls’ cricket, the club is also offering dedicated coaching for girls aged between seven and ten this summer and is holding a free taster session at Amesbury School on March 25 at 6pm.
Grayshott Cricket Club will also be staging its third All Stars initiative from May 12. It will run for ten weeks and is aimed at encouraging boys and girls from the age of five to eight inclusive to take up the game. Last year, more than 90 children signed up.
