The small crowd gathered at the Castle Ground were treated to an excellent display of fielding thanks to a thrilling catch from Maddie Armitage and the athletic fielding of Rosa Bowles – whose long strides had her covering the boundary easily.
The safe hands of wicketkeeper Nicole Lawrence and a final wicket for Carver from the penultimate ball of the innings left Farnham in a solid position as they prepared to go in to bat.
Chiddingfold produced a spirited bowling and fielding performance, but it was no match for Farnham’s opening pairs of Davis and Lawrence and Carver and Sarah Gudgin.
Armitage and Bowles then added steadily to the score for the loss of a single wicket.
By the time the final pair came into bat only 15 runs were needed from the last 16 balls.
Upton and Anna White combined well, with the winning run coming from White in the final over as Farnham finished on 279 for one.
