PUPILS at Barrow Hills School in Witley have been honing their cricket skills at a masterclass run by Ollie Pope, Surrey’s bang-in-form batsman.
Ollie, from Haslemere, who scored a superb century this week in the Championship victory over Yorkshire, played for Surrey at U13, 14, 15 and 17 level before being selected for England U19s.
He has now scored three Championship 100s for Surrey in just 10 first-class matches.
He taught the Barrow Hills youngsters in Years 7 and 8, and the masterclass delighted games master Jonjo Conway, who arranged the visit. “We were privileged to have such a high-profile player spend time with our children,” he said. “His success in the field, from such a young age, is a perfect example of how discipline, drive and commitment can help children achieve great things.”
