Farnham Floorball Club won silverware at the UK National Junior Floorball Championships in Cheltenham.
Farnham under-13 Shooting Stars built on their recent league title and dominated the competition with six wins in six games and a goal difference of plus 23 to become the national champions in the under-13 age group. There were also individual honours for some Shooting Stars players – Ossian Tibbert-Wykvliet was the leading goalscorer in the group and Nye Price was named the best goalkeeper.
Farnham under-16 Fireballs came very close to repeating as national champions, winning three games and only lost narrowly 2-1 against eventual champions Hawick Hawks. This was the first game the under-16 Fireballs have lost in three seasons.
The under-19 Fireballs and under-13 Meteorites both enjoyed some good moments. The under-19 Fireballs’ win against Hawick was a special highlight to finish the tournament, while the newly-formed under-13 Meteorites battled against strong opposition all day before eventually grabbing a couple of goals in their last game to avoid the wooden spoon.
It has been another successful season of floorball in Farnham and the club are very proud to finish the season with one national championship and three league trophies.
Farnham Floorball Club chairman Dean Smith said: “What a great season. It's fun to be winning tournaments but it's also exciting to see our player numbers growing – hopefully it means we're doing something right.
“This was the first time in several years that Farnham has been able to enter four teams at the nationals and we can be proud of all four teams and the way they performed.”
Farnham Floorball Club are looking for new players to be part of a growing and fun sport next season. Anyone who is interested in joining the club should email [email protected] for more information.
