Badshot Lea manager Gavin Smith has demanded that his side convert good performances into positive results.
The Baggies lost 2-0 at home to Binfield in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Saturday, despite a positive display.
The result leaves the Baggies rooted to the bottom of the league, with two points from their opening nine games.
The home side started positively and created a number of chances, but were unable to find a breakthrough.
The Baggies were made to pay for those missed chances when the visitors took the lead in the 39th minute through Kickie Dzimba’s goal.
Smith’s side continued to create opportunities in the second half, but were reduced to ten men when Lanseny Troare received a second yellow card on 77 minutes.
The Baggies continued to push forwards despite their numerical disadvantage, and the visitors sealed the points in stoppage time when Riley Robinson made it 2-0.
Smith was pleased with his side’s display, but admitted that they need to turn performances into results soon.
“We played well,” said Smith. “We got into so many good positions, but we ultimately didn’t make the most of our chances.
“I didn’t look at Binfield and think they were better than us. We were in the game, but ultimately they showed their quality with the two goals.
“These results would be easier to accept if we were playing badly or if the teams we were playing were clearly better than us.
“That hasn’t been the case though. The frustrating thing is we are playing well and showing quality.
“The group of players we’ve got are good players, but ultimately we aren’t winning the key moments in games and are making decisions which are costing us results.
“We need to show better game management to get results. The players need to accept that, but I also need to accept that.
“I can’t keep saying we’re playing well but we’re losing games. Football is a results game and I understand that we need to start picking up some results soon.
“I’ve got a lot of time for this group of players, but if we don’t start getting results soon I might have to freshen the group up and get some other players in.
“Ultimately if we don’t get results I will be under pressure – I understand that.”
The Baggies will travel to Hartley Wintney in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Saturday, and Smith is expecting a tough test for his side.
“We know what Hartley Wintney are about and know it will be a tough match,” said Smith.
