Jack Butler’s second goal in consecutive games wasn’t enough to prevent Liss Athletic exiting the Hampshire Premier League Cup with a 2-1 defeat against a well-drilled Liphook United side.
Mark Glazier’s side started the contest brightly, however it was the hosts who took the lead with 20 minutes gone through talisman Billy Allcock. Butler levelled shortly afterwards with an effort from the right-hand side which beat Harry Adey and went in off the underside of the bar.
Henry Smith scored what turned out to be the winner before the interval. Liphook had a chance in the second half to extend their lead with a strike that cannoned off Sam Waine’s crossbar. Elliot Harrison nearly forced a penalty shoot-out late on, but he was denied by Adey low to his right.
