Petersfield Town extended their winning run to four games with a 3-0 victory at Little Common in the Southern Combination Premier Division on Saturday.
Little Common belied their league position to give the Rams a tough afternoon.
The first half was closely-fought. Both sides were solid in defence and clear-cut chances were at a premium.
The Rams were struggling to find the fluency in their play that has been a feature in recent games, but had an excellent opportunity to take the lead when they were awarded a penalty in the 19th minute after Harrison Cable was brought down in the box.
However, Dec Seiden put his spot kick wide.
In the final 15 minutes the Rams started to open up the home defence more regularly, and made the breakthrough in the 83rd minute when Cable fired home from close range.
The Rams added two more goals in stoppage time. The first came in the 91st minute, when Isaac Kamin headed home a cross from debutant Max Allen.
Former Moneyfields player Allen scored himself in the 98th minute with a low shot from the left-hand side into the far corner.
Petersfield co-manager Connor Hoare was pleased to see his side extend their winning run on a difficult pitch.
“The pitch was very bad, which made it difficult to play our football,” said Hoare.
“I was always confident we would win the game, even it was still 0-0 after 83 minutes.
“Little Common were playing for a point, and it was always going to be the case that once we got the first goal more would follow.”
The Rams are currently in fourth place in the Premier Division table, and Hoare wants his side to keep their form going.
“We’re being really clinical at the moment and we want to keep this momentum going for as long as possible,” said Hoare.
