Petersfield Town beat Wessex League Division One outfit Ringwood Town 9-8 on penalties after an entertaining 2-2 draw in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase on Saturday.
Ringwood took the lead 22 minutes in when Lee Vint’s header went over the line.
Callum Kimber won Petersfield a penalty on 43 minutes. Dec Seiden stepped up, but Ringwood keeper William Griffin made a good save with his feet.
Harry Birmingham levelled the scores in the 48th minute. Seiden turned his man in the area and pulled the ball back for Birmingham to poke into an unguarded net.
Harrison Cable gave the Rams the lead with five minutes left when his effort from the edge of the box flew past Griffin.
Vint then stroked home his second of the afternoon to take the tie to penalties.
Birmingham was sent to the sin bin before the shoot-out began but the drama continued as Grant saved two match-winning penalties to keep the Rams in the tie. Callum Kimber scored his second penalty of the shoot-out, which set up Grant to save from Vint and put Petersfield through.

Rams keeper Ellis Grant made a crucial save in the shoot-out, setting up Owen Kimber to score the winning penalty.

The visitors scored the only goal on 22 minutes when Harvey Valter fired home.
Badshot Lea crashed to a 5-1 defeat at Raynes Park Vale in the Isthmian League South Central Division on Saturday. Lamin Ceesay scored the Baggies’ goal.
