SHOW JUMPER Harry Charles of Bentworth was crowned ‘Master of Wales’ as he retained his Martin Collins Grand Prix title in fine style at the Welsh Masters Show.
This time, he was riding his father Peter Charles’ promising eight-year-old, Valkiry de Zance.
Eight of the 31 starters reached the jump-off over a strong and technical 12-fence track and Harry provided the fairytale ending with his final draw on the Diamant De Semilly-sired Valkiry, relegating Ben Bick into second by 2.76 seconds.
Seventeen-year-old Harry, a pupil at Churcher’s College in Petersfield, said: “Val was green last year, but now, with more mileage, he shows so much promise. I hope Val will be top grand-prix horse for me.”
