FARNHAM Shooting Stars floorball team made the short trip to The Edge sports hall in Haslemere for the Three Counties League fixture on Sunday.

The local side were missing their usual netminder and the first match against IPSE was very tight.

But Shoting Stars finally triumphed 6-5, thanks to a superb pass from Sam Dring and a shot while running at full speed by Ben Funk. Will Rixon and Eben Dring also scored fine goals.

Farnham then beat the Bees 4-1, but with a squad of 16 for these six-a-side matches, changes were made and Shooting Stars promptly lost 3-0 to newly-formed Meon Vale. It was their first defeat in 16 matches.

The final match against Wasps was tied at 3-3, with Farnham controversially having a goal disallowed. Despite the last two results, Farnham remain top of the table.

The parents’ floorball sessions on Saturdays at Farnham Sports Centre have succumbed to the growing popularity of the sport and the U13s will take over the second pitch in the main hall (4.30pm every Saturday). Parents can still attend Southern Vipers’ 16+ training sessions on Wednesdays at Farnborough Leisure Centre (7pm).

The Farnham and Farnborough senior clubs wish all the best to Imogen Rixon who is off the Italy to compete in the Women’s World Cup qualifiers, playing against Finland, Poland, Russia and Italy.
