It is looking good for a Haslemere school.
Camelsdale Primary School in Haslemere has once again been rated as good following an Ofsted inspection in April.
Inspectors praised the school for its warm community, inclusive atmosphere, and high standards. The report noted that the 'Camelsdale Way,' a core school value, fosters kindness in pupils who are eager to learn and take pride in their school.
One pupil said: “Our school is how we want it to be, a happy place where all children are kind and friendly.”
Highlighted in the report is how Year 5 are ‘Panda Pals’ to children in reception. They play with the children at lunchtime and write them letters in the summer holiday before they start to welcome them to their new school.
The school’s curriculum is ambitious, building knowledge across a broad range of subjects. Teachers were commended for their clear delivery and ability to connect different subjects, helping to deepen students' understanding. Butbthe inspection noted that some teachers could improve their use of assessments to address gaps in knowledge.
Reading is a central focus at Camelsdale, with children beginning to learn phonics from their first days in Reception. The school ensures that pupils who fall behind receive timely support to catch up, resulting in confident readers by the end of Year 1.
The school also excels in supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), providing them with full access to the curriculum alongside their peers. Safeguarding measures at the school were found to be effective.
