Farnham's West Street is to reopen "imminently" with an exact date expected to be confirmed on Friday, town mayor Alan Earwaker has said.
Sharing an update with members of the town council on Thursday evening, Cllr Earwaker added South East Water had confirmed the road would "definitely be reopening the road by the end of the month" and hopefully sooner.
In addition, he said Cllr Michaela Martin and officers were working with retailers and South East Water to secure funding for a marketing exercise to promote the town centre as "open for business again".
Cllr Martin added she is seeking matched funding for the marketing exercise from Surrey County Council.
West Street has been closed in several phases between Crondall Lane and the Coxbridge roundabout since late-January, as part of a £1.3 million water network upgrade project.
The road, currently closed between the Bourne Wood care home and the Coxbridge roundabout, had been scheduled to reopen in late-April.
But citing engineering difficulties, particularly heavy utility congestion beneath the road surface, South East Water delayed the reopening for a further month until late-May.
Once the work in West Street is complete, South East Water's project team will continue laying the new two kilometre pipeline in private land.
The new pipeline will enable South East Water to pump more water into the town, ensuring customers don’t suffer with low water pressure or interruptions to supply as the community grows.
