A Haslemere school has earned the British Council’s prestigious International School Award, for its outstanding work in international education.
The award celebrates schools like St Ives School that embed global perspectives into their curriculum, helping students develop cultural understanding and skills for today’s world.
From language lessons in French and Spanish to studying world religions in RE and exploring global history and geography, international themes feature in all subjects at St Ives. Pupils have investigated topics such as democracy in India and South Africa, the Quechua people in Peru, and global art and music.
Headteacher Kay Goldsworthy said: “We are firm believers that a well-rounded education is only complete if pupils understand their place in the world and learn to be decent, global citizens.
British Council Chief Executive Scott McDonald praised the school’s “inspirational international work,” adding that the award highlights schools preparing students for a globally connected future.
