A decades-old tradition continues as Grayshott Pottery donates Year 6 leavers' mugs.
Grayshott Pottery has donated leavers’ mugs for more than three decades. But the tradition, which began almost 40 years ago, came full circle this July.
Managing Director Glenn Myers, who has handed out the mugs for several years, received his own Grayshott Pottery leaver’s mug back in 1982. This year, Toby Hutchins, Director of Grayshott Pottery, had the honour.
Toby said: “If we rewind 21 years, I was an 11-year-old sitting in that hall receiving my very own leaver’s mug. It was presented to me by then-Managing Director Phil Bates. It was very special to hand these to each leaver, knowing the tradition behind them. I still have my mug from 2002 in the back of the kitchen cupboard.
“We look forward to continuing to support both the school and the rest of the village.”
