Haslemere Concerts is set to launch its 2024–2025 season with the world premiere of chamber works by local composer Clive Osgood. The concert, on September 14 at St Christopher’s Church in Haslemere at 7:30 pm, will showcase pieces from Osgood’s latest album, Chamber Works.

Osgood, a classical composer, accompanist, organist, and music teacher residing near Haslemere, has received acclaim for his compositions, which are featured on five albums under the Convivium Records label. His new album, released on 6 September, includes performances by the world-renowned Tippett Quartet, flautist Lisa Friend, and pianist Lynn Arnold.

The concert will also feature Elgar’s Piano Quintet in A minor, Op. 84, with Arnold on piano. Osgood describes his works as a blend of 18th-century chamber music frameworks with modern influences, aiming to create a fusion of old and new that appeals to a broad audience.

He added: “It’s not about creating something entirely new, but about finding and sharing a voice that has become so much a part of me, and of my musical journey.”

Stephen Dennison, a representative of HHH Concerts, said: “It was an honour to be approached by Convivium Records to host the first performance of compositions by Clive Osgood from his new CD. He is our local star. Clive has contributed to many musical and theatrical organisations in Haslemere, and we are honoured to provide a platform for his new compositions.”
