Volunteering has taken stage in Haslemere, thanks to the re-launch of a community website that hopes to become an invaluable community resource.

Run by volunteers who live in town, 'This Is Haslemere' is on a mission to get residents to engage more with the Haslemere community through volunteering, joining clubs, or attending local events.

The website features regularly updated listings of local organisations and charities in need of volunteers, ranging from long-term commitments to temporary roles.

The site also details local groups, from arts and culture to sports and youth clubs, as well as environmental organisations and parent and toddler groups. The News & Events section shows theatre productions, concerts, sporting events, exhibitions, and markets. The site also covers nearby villages meaning Haslemere’s neighbours are included too.

A This is Haslemere representative said: “Having witnessed first-hand how many locals were prepared to offer their time and knowledge to residents affected by the Covid lockdown and to our Ukrainian guests, we wanted to capitalise on all this goodwill and community spirit. I

“It’s where we share resources, knowledge and time, to help and support Haslemere residents. We really want This is Haslemere to become the Go To website for anyone looking for information or contacts within Haslemere and our beautiful surrounding villages.”

The website was created thanks to the generosity of Emma Stokes of Studio Simple and Lucy Taylor from Taylor Wood Solutions, both of whom volunteered their time free of charge.
