Badshot Lea manager Gavin Smith was pleased with his side’s performance after they drew 0-0 at home to South Park (Reigate) in the Isthmian League South Central Division.
Both sides created chances in a competitive encounter at Westfield Lane.
The draw was the Baggies’ first point in the league this season after starting the campaign with three defeats, and Smith was pleased with his side’s efforts.
“We know where we've been going wrong and we've had a good chat about that in the changing room,” said Smith. “The fact we've kept a clean sheet is a real positive. We defended very well.
“We relied on Harry Cawdron a little bit in the second half after being dominant in the first half. We were definitely on top of the game in the first half and played how we wanted to play. We created good opportunities and were just half a yard from tapping the ball in the net. We didn't really test the keeper, which is disappointing, but the opportunities were there to put the ball in the box. We created great openings.
“They put quite a bit of pressure on us in the second half and we didn't really trouble them, although we had a couple of good opportunities. We've picked up some injuries which is disappointing because we feel like we're getting somewhere in terms of performance, but it's an opportunity for others to come in now and show what they can do.
“The play was really good in the first half. We were being patient and waiting for the right opportunity rather than forcing something. I felt we forced it a little bit in the second half. The first-half performance was good and we've got to build on that. We've got to take advantage of that dominance and score.”
